Bradford Cox shares first new music as Atlas Sound in fifteen years

The American musician’s ‘Octoberland’ precedes forthcoming festival appearances at Kilby Block Party and Primavera Sound.

Bradford Cox has reemerged with the release of a new single under his Atlas Sound solo moniker.

‘Octoberland’ is out digitally via 4AD today and marks the American musician’s first music to release under his revered solo outlet in fifteen years. The single follows on from a recent live appearance at Philadelphia’s Making Time music festival that comprised performances of all-new material and signalled the end of a lengthy retreat from public view for Cox, whose recorded musical output and touring activities tapered following the release of Deerhunter’s eighth full-length album Why Hasn’t Everything Already Disappeared? in 2019. Cox has also begun charting plans for further live performances in 2027, appearing both in a solo setting as Atlas Sound at Salt Lake City’s Kilby Block Party and Barcelona’s Primavera Sound, and in collaboration with his Deerhunter bandmate Lockett Pundt at Knoxville’s Big Ears Festival.
