The American-British instrumental rock trio’s Say Nothing arrives in November.
We Contain Multitudes have announced the release of a new album.
Say Nothing is due for arrival through Expert Work and Vina Records on 6th November and will represent the emerging American-British instrumental rock band’s second full-length work to date in succession of their 2025 debut album Minako. Encompassing four songs gradually assembled over a nine-year period, the upcoming release was recorded by Jonathan Kreinik and Abe Seiferth at various studios throughout New York City with mastering subsequently handled by Shellac’s Bob Weston. Title track and lead single ‘Say Nothing’ bolsters the album’s announcement, a tireless and towering motorik rhythm anchoring dense layers of guitar over its sprawling eight-minute runtime.
We Contain Multitudes formed in 2017 as a transatlantic collaboration between British bassist Simon Kobayashi and US underground rock veterans Jon Fine and Orestes Morfin, the latter components renowned as early and quietly influential practitioners of math rock and post-hardcore through their work with Bitch Magnet, Coptic Light, Don Caballero et al. The trio first met when Kobayashi provided support during the London stop of Bitch Magnet’s international reunion tour in the early 2010s and later collaborated on-stage for the first time in 2017 as part of promotional activities for Fine’s critically acclaimed memoir Your Band Sucks.

“This is, basically, our first song. The first one we finished, and the one that sounded best when we first practiced together back in 2017. The weird thing is that we all still really like it.
There are the songs you love that have a giant hook that just completely seduces you. But some of our favourite songs are those that get into you more slowly through repetition and groove, and a momentum that slowly builds. That’s what we were going for here.”
