The prolific San Francisco experimental rock group’s Divine Schism will arrive in October.
Deerhoof have announced the release of a new album.
Divine Schism is penned for arrival through the long-running San Francisco experimental rock group’s own Children Of Hoof Music Library imprint on 2nd October, marking their twenty-first full-length studio album to date. The successor to last year’s Noble And Godlike In Ruin was recorded over several weeks in early 2026, largely with producer Mike Bridavsky (Built To Spill, Half Japanese, Magnolia Electric Co., Mount Eerie) at his Russian Recording studio facility in Bloomington, Indiana and will be available to purchase digitally through Bandcamp with CD and vinyl physical editions available exclusively at the band’s forthcoming live concerts and through the Joyful Noise Recordings mail order service in limited numbers.

WE ARRIVED AT THE STUDIO IN MARCH 2026 DETERMINED TO USE EVERY RAREAMP VINTAGE ORGAN COLLECTIBLE SOVIET SYNTHESIZER ORCHESTRAL PERCUSSION INSTRUMENT AND WACKY STOMP BOX THERE IN ORDER TO BUILD A COMPLEX ATMOSPHERIC PANORAMA LAYER BY DISSONANT LAYER.
WE TELL THE STORY OF THE EARTH BUT FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE SUN WHOCAN NO LONGER SEE ONE OF ITS FAVORITE CHILDREN BUT SEES ONLY ITS OWN BLINDINGREFLECTION BECAUSE OF GEO ENGINEERING DEPLOYED BY TECH OLIGARCHS WHO WOULD RATHER COVER THE EARTH IN MIRRORS THAN STOP BURNING UP THE PLANET.”
