MK_ULTRA share abrasive debut single

Listen to ‘6Ft Lizard’ now.

MK_ULTRA may well be the most confrontational band spawned from the loins of West Yorkshire in 2018.

The band, composed of Za Za – formerly of Bradford-based beatniks Fling – and Bullit made their introduction to the world this week with ‘6ft Lizard’, a cacophonous debut that’s impossible to ignore.

Distortion-swathed guitar motifs ring out above dancing organ lines and unrelenting drums, however it’s the single’s lyricism, projected through vocals sneering with a savage vitality à la Royal Trux that commands the listener’s attention. Lines such as “It’s hard doing business with a six foot lizard, it’s not easy cutting paper when you’ve got no scissors” are as compelling as they are alienating, and intentionally ambiguous, as Za Za affirms that their meaning is open to interpretation.

Within the single’s brief length there’s a lot to digest, but what’s certain is that its unspooled, riff-swollen guts will compel you to return for more.
