Carissa’s Wierd reunite, announce first new album in twenty-five years

The revived American indie rock band’s Somewhere Further Than Far Away will arrive in January.

Carissa’s Wierd have reemerged with the announcement of a new album.

Somewhere Further Than Far Away will release through Nettwerk Music Group on 8th January, marking the cult American indie rock group’s first full-length collection of songs to materialise in twenty-five years. Inspired by the response received to a series of reunion shows held in 2025, the core songwriting duo of Mat Brooke and Jenn Champion began cultivating the foundation of a new album under their beloved moniker through a virtual exchange of bedroom-recorded songs in early 2026 before later convening with producer Samuel Rosson and bandmates Sera Cahoone and Sarah Standard to complete further recording sessions at The Hall of Justice in Seattle. Newly debuted single ‘No One Lives Here Anymore’ offers the first insight in to Somewhere Further Than Far Away and showcases the band on great form, their sweeping and intimate sensibilities intact and as affecting as ever.

Carissa’s Wierd formed in 1995 and released three full-length albums over the course of their original eight-year tenure before disbanding in 2003 and embarking on a number of other musical projects that would include Band Of Horses and Grand Archives.
