Tortoise announce eighth album, share new single

The seminal Chicago post-rock band’s Touch will release in October.

Tortoise have announced the release of their first album in nine years.

Touch is scheduled for arrival on October 24th through a newly forged partnership with International Anthem and Nonesuch Records and will mark the seminal Chicago post-rock outfit’s eighth full-length studio project to date. The successor to 2016’s The Catastrophist was recorded over a four-year period between studio sessions held at Chicago’s Electrical Audio, LA’s 64 Sound and Portland’s Flora Recording and Playback in light of recent geographical shifts amongst the band’s five constituent parts and will be supported by an approaching tour itinerary charting cities throughout the USA and Europe that begins next month.

Guitarist Jeff Parker offers of the forthcoming album,

“It’s the first record we’ve done where everything wasn’t based in Chicago. Two of us are in Chicago. Two of us are here in Los Angeles and John [McEntire] is in Portland, OR. We recorded in several different places. But the strange thing is, in a way it’s kind of the most cohesive session that we’ve done.”
