The Squirrel Bait, Bastro and Gastr del Sol graduate’s Whistle From Above will be supported by concerts in Glasgow, Cambridge, Cardiff, Bristol, London and more.

David Grubbs has released a new instrumental solo album.
Whistle From Above is out now via Drag City Records and marks the revered Louisville, Kentucky guitarist’s first full-length solo work to materialise in eight years, following onward from 2017’s Creep Mission and a subsequent tenure of prolific collaboration encompassing the release of projects made with Manuel Mota, Mats Gustafsson, Rob Mazurek, Ryley Walker, Kramer and Wendy Eisenberg among others. Inspired by his time spent compiling the recordings housed within the praised 2024 Gastr del Sol box set We Have Dozens Of Titles, Grubbs’ latest solo entry features guest contributions from Rhodri Davies, Andrea Belfi, Nikos Veliotis, Nate Wooley and Cleek Schrey, and will be supported by a tour of UK cities commencing in mid-March.
