The avant-garde jazz luminary’s New Dawn will release in November.

American jazz saxophonist Marshall Allen has announced the release of his debut solo album.
Scheduled for release in November, New Dawn arrives on the year of Marshall’s 100th birthday and will mark the musician’s inaugural solitary studio album to release under his own name following decades of innovation forged within an ensemble setting as a devoted member and bandleader of late pianist-composer Sun Ra’s fabled Sun Ra Arkestra. Preceded by the newly debuted lead single ‘African Sunset’, the forthcoming project feature contributions from Arkestra cohorts Knoel Scott, Cecil Brooks, Bruce Edwards and George Gray, Ornette Coleman’s Prime Time alumnus Jamaaladeen Tacuma and more.

New Dawn releases on November 29th via Week—End Records.
