Marnie Stern announces long-awaited fifth album

The Comeback Kid marks the math rock linchpin’s first project in a decade.

New York singer-songwriter and guitarist Marnie Stern has announced the release of a new album.

The Comeback Kid is scheduled for release on November 3rd through Joyful Noise Recordings and marks the math rock linchpin’s first project to release in a decade. Following on from 2013’s praised The Chronicles of Marnia, the forthcoming release was recorded in collaboration with Arcade Fire’s Jeremy Gara and signals the end of a hiatus of sorts for Stern, who has spent much of the last ten years navigating parenthood and serving as a member of The 8G Band on The Late Show with Seth Meyers.

An illuminating precursor coloured by the tap-centric hallmarks that made Stern a beloved fixture of her off-kilter domain throughout the late 00s, hear album opener ‘Plain Speak’ in advance below.
