Be it through painting, music curation or spearheading the club scenes of the USA and UK as a key component of Boiler Room and Bone Soda, Sofie Fatouretchi’s creative output has always resounded with a compelling aura and irrefutable authenticity.
With knowledge of those past pursuits it should be unsurprising that the simple yet striking refrain of Fatouretchi’s new single has proved itself to be one of the most commanding musical passages of 2019’s final months.
As Sofie, the Vienna locale is due to release her debut album Cult Survivor in 2020 joining the likes of Jerry Paper, Mndsgn and Madlib on the roster of Californian tastemakers Stones Throw Records. ’99 Glimpses’ serves as a precursor to the project’s full release, rife with grandiose piano chords, sultry vocals and a languid, intoxicating groove.
