Sam Mehran of Test Icicles and Outer Limits Recordings has passed away

Mehran was 31 years old.

Sam Mehran, founding member of British dance-punk group Test Icicles has passed away aged 31. The cause of death is unknown at present.

News of Mehran’s passing was shared on Sunday, July 29th by Zak Mering of GunkTV Records. The label were responsible for releasing music by Mehran under the Outer Limits Recordings moniker that he assumed following the demise of Test Icicles and his consequent relocation to North America.

Mehran first emerged alongside Dev Hynes (Blood Orange, Lightspeed Champion) and Rory Attwell as a member of the London-based punk trio Test Icicles. The project released one album via Domino Recording Company, 2005’s For Screening Purposes Only before disbanding in 2006. Thereafter, Mehran released two solo albums under the Outer Limits Recordings moniker in addition to intermittently recording music as Matrix Metals, The Sweethearts and Blues Runner. Most recently he held co-production credits on Ssion’s 2018 album O.
