Island House Recordings have announced the release of a new album of solo works from American musical multi-hyphenate Tim Barnes.
Out today on CD and digital formats, Inside Energy was conceptualised and brought to fruition in partnership with oft collaborator Ken ‘Bundy’ Brown (Bastro, Gastr del Sol, Pullman, Tortoise) over a period of several years subsequent to Barnes having received a diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer’s in 2021. True to the percussionist’s restlessly prolific and collaborative spirit his newly released album draws upon contributions from a host of similarly explorative and noteworthy peers including Doug McCombs (Brokeback, Pullman, Tortoise), Tara Jane O’Neil (Rodan, The Sonora Pine), Britt Walford (The Breeders, Slint) and more. Inside Energy marks the third full-length solo album by Barnes to release this year following onward from Lost Words and Noumena which arrived through Quakebasket in affiliation with Drag City Records last month.
