Chicago Underground Duo announce new album, share single

The venerated Illinois outfit will release Hyperglyph in August.

Chicago Underground Duo have announced the release of a new album.

Reviving their venerated and decades-long collaborative project in succession of an extended break in studio-recorded output, Hyperglyph is scheduled for arrival through International Anthem on August 15th and will mark the duo of composer-trumpeter Rob Mazurek and percussionist Chad Taylor’s first full-length album to release in eleven years. Following on from 2014’s Locus, the duo’s newly detailed album was recorded with engineer Dave Vettraino over a three-day period from their label’s own International Anthem Studios and will arrive in alignment with a rare live performance at the inaugural edition of Chicago music festival Sound & Gravity in September.

Its rapturous horn incantations and formidable polyrhythmic textures reaffirming a deft, longstanding command on jazz music’s farthest outer reaches, hear album opener ‘Click Song’ and view the track list for Hyperglyph below.
