Erykah Badu has returned with the release of a new single.
‘Next To You’ is underpinned by production from The Alchemist and offers the first preview of a recently detailed collaborative album from the Texas neo soul luminary and Californian producer which is expected for arrival later this year. The newly released single repurposes a beat originally created by The Alchemist for Mobb Deep’s 1999 song ‘The Realest’, whilst its accompanying artwork appears to pay homage to Sonic Youth’s landmark 1990 album Goo.
Badu’s collaborative album with The Alchemist will mark her first full-length project to release in ten years, following on from the 2010 studio album New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh) and subsequent 2015 mixtape But You Caint Use My Phone.
