Bitch Magnet members launch new band We Contain Multitudes, announce debut album

The instrumental trio’s Minako arrives through Expert Work Records in June.

We Contain Multitudes have announced the release of their debut album.

A newly emerging collaboration comprising guitarist Jon Fine, drummer Orestes Morfin and bassist Simon Kobayashi, the members of We Contain Multitudes first met in 2011 when Kobayashi provided local support during the UK leg of a reunion tour from Fine and Morfin’s seminal late 1980s post-hardcore outfit Bitch Magnet. Thereafter regrouping in 2017 to set in motion a new creative project, Fine, Morfin and Kobayashi spent six years honing their instrumental rock vision before embarking on a series of studio sessions held in New York City with Abe Seiferth commencing in October 2023. The resultant Minako is scheduled for arrival through Expert Work Records on June 25th and preceded by the newly debuted single ‘Can We Just Not?’, its chosen form a deft execution of the distortion-swathed guitars, angular rhythm and shifting time signatures that first rendered Fine and Morfin as venerated early practitioners of the math rock template over three decades ago.

Fine shares of Minako,

“It was a great gift to be able to build these songs for years, in a kind of clandestine and invisible way. It feels like we’ve been keeping a secret from everyone, and we’re so fucking psyched to share it—finally!—with the world.”
