This year Chicago will welcome the arrival of a new music festival named Sound & Gravity.
Organised by local musician and Pitchfork Music Festival founding component Mike Reed, the multi-day event’s inaugural edition will take place between September 10th and 14th with live performances held across a number of venues including Beat Kitchen, Reed’s Constellation, Guild Row, Hungry Brain, Judson & Moore and Rockwell On The River. Within the festival’s diverse and noteworthy programme are scheduled appearances from Bill Callahan, Mdou Moctar, Irreversible Entanglements, Jeff Parker Expansion Trio, The Messthetics and James Brandon Lewis, Glenn Kotche, Chicago Underground Duo, Sam Prekop, Animal Collective’s Geologist, Memorials and Tara Clerkin Trio among others. Steve Albini’s famed recording facility Electrical Audio are also noted as being onboarded to programme a number of surprise performances. Tickets for Sound & Gravity will be available for purchase from May 7th with full festival passes priced at $240.
