Drag City Records have announced the release of two new solo albums of music from Tim Barnes.
The revered Louisville, Kentucky drummer and percussionist’s Lost Words and Noumena are each scheduled for arrival on June 27th and were conceived in collaboration with Tortoise, Bastro and Gastr del Sol alumnus Ken Brown over a period of several years subsequent to having received a diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer’s in 2021. Amongst a wealth of collaborators seen to join Barnes and Brown across the two forthcoming projects are John Dieterich (Deerhoof), Darin Gray (Dazzling Killmen, On Fillmore), David Grubbs (Squirrel Bait, Bastro, Bitch Magnet, Gastr del Sol), Rob Mazurek (Chicago Underground, Isotope 217), Doug McCombs (Brokeback, Tortoise), Tara Jane O’Neil (Rodan, The Sonora Pine), Jim O’Rourke (Gastr del Sol, Sonic Youth) and Britt Walford (The Breeders, Slint).
