London’s pencil announce debut EP

Bohemian Clutter releases on May 9th.

pencil have announced the release of their debut EP.

Formed in London by members Cai Burns, Thomas Fiquet, Coco Inman, Kamran Khan and Dom Potts, the burgeoning art rock quintet first surfaced in 2023 with the release of their inaugural single ‘The Giant’ whilst garnering praise in a live setting through notable appearances at The Great Escape, Mirrors Festival and more. The band’s Bohemian Clutter will arrive through State51 on May 9th, flanked by a headline concert to be held at The Waiting Room in Stoke Newington and led by the newly premiered single ‘Silent Corners’ which deftly deploys a cavernous dynamism and understated, Pinback-like winding and intricate melodic disposition.

“‘Silent Corners’ is the sound of something beautiful turning into something terrifying, a meditation on what might lurk beneath the surface. We wanted the song to unfold in the way that a dance track might, constantly growing and gaining momentum, before eventually collapsing in on itself.”
