The late singer-songwriter, composer and cellist’s Open Vocal Phrases, Where Songs Come In and Out arrives this month.

A new album compiling live recordings of Arthur Russell has been announced for posthumous release.
Entitled Open Vocal Phrases, Where Songs Come In and Out, the newly excavated project groups concert recordings from the late singer-songwriter, composer and cellist captured by Steve Cellum during a performance for Phill Niblock’s Downtown New York City-based Experimental Intermedia Foundation in December 1985. A number of the comprising live recording materials – which include renditions of ‘Tower Of Meaning’, ‘Home Away From Home’, ‘All-Boy All-Girl’ and more – were previously edited by Russell and merged with studio recordings tracked at Battery Sound to form his seminal 1986 full-length album World Of Echo.
