The musical instrument manufacturer’s chord-focused inaugural offering features 16 voice polyphony, onboard effects, looping capabilities and more.

Telepathic Instruments, a new venture helmed by Kevin Parker of Tame Impala fame and several friends, have announced the release of their inaugural offering to the world of musical instruments.
The burgeoning manufacturer’s Orchid is a polyphonic hardware synthesizer that was first conceptualised by Parker more than ten years ago and is branded as being ‘made for chords’. Housed within a compact enclosure designed by Ignacio Germade, the synthesizer’s understated footprint pairs a single octave keyboard with an intuitive chord generation system comprising eight keys and a rotary encoder that allow for a chosen root note to be transformed in to a variety of chord options. Internal specs include three synth engines designed by German engineer and Waldorf alumnus Stefan Stenzel, 16-voice polyphony, velocity sensitive keys, onboard effects inclusive of chorus, delay and reverb, MIDI connectivity, looping capabilities and more.
Orchid’s initial run will be priced at $549 and limited to 1000 units available exclusively to US residents from December 18th. Those who purchase the instrument will gain access to a Patreon group dubbed The Garden wherein discussions will assist in helping to shape the instrument’s ongoing development ahead of a wider release planned for next year.
