Kingdom Of Discipline will traverse two decades of performances from the jazz innovator.

A collection of live recordings from American jazz innovator Sun Ra have been compiled for a new album.
Kingdom Of Discipline is scheduled for arrival in October and groups seven recordings from the seminal pianist-bandleader, often flanked by members of his fabled Arkestra ensemble and captured over two decades between 1971 and 1990. Curated by Nashville imprint Dead Currencies and brought to physical format in extremely limited numbers, the forthcoming project pays homage to the early releases of Sun Ra’s El Saturn label which would typically press hand-made records in runs of only 75 units.
Dead Currencies label head JR states of the newly compiled project’s first preview,
“Tone Poem #9’ drops all of us right in the middle of a rehearsal at Saturn House on Morton Street in West Philadelphia in the summer of 1978. The opening track of the new collection of previously unreleased tunes by the legendary Sun Ra, ‘Kingdom of Discipline’ is a mood unto itself, with vibes to spare…
We’re offered a peek behind the curtain at the musical genius at work. Featuring Marshall Allen, John Gilmore and Charles Davis, this is ‘lo-fi’ from one of the inventors of the genre later occupied by punk rock and 90s slacker indie-rock. And it is poetic symmetry for an artist who recorded to Sound Mirror wire tape machines in the 1940s and self-released home recordings before the great Daniel Johnston was even born.”
