Shovel Dance Collective announce new album, tour dates

The London folk ensemble’s The Shovel Dance arrives in October.

Shovel Dance Collective have announced the release of a new album.

The Shovel Dance is positioned for arrival through American Dreams on October 11th and will mark the London-based ensemble’s second full-length album, following on from the praises of 2022’s widely decorated The Water Is The Shovel Of The Shore. Forging furthermore in to the captivating, acoustically voiced English, Irish and Scottish folk song explorations that have underpinned their prior output to date, the release of The Shovel Dance will be bolstered by a tour itinerary encompassing performances in Aarhus, Oslo, Edinburgh, Margate, Lewes and more in advance of a three-day residency at London’s Cafe OTO. Tickets for all tour dates will be available to purchase from August 9th. Find yours here.

The band muse of their approaching endeavour,

“This album is a record of our attempts so far to reach for the additive power of collective expression that has forever been essential to traditional music. Unable to summon the strength of a hundred voices in song or the reeling energy of a session, we’ve substituted careful and collaborative arrangement.”
