Starflyer 59 announce new album, share lead single

The decorated American band’s Lust For Gold will arrive next month.

American indie rock veterans Starflyer 59 recently announced the release of a new album and have now resurfaced once more to share the project’s lead single.

Lust For Gold is scheduled to arrive through Velvet Blue Music in August and will mark the Jason Martin-led outfit’s seventeenth full-length studio album to date in succession of 2021’s Vanity. Jason Pickersgill – whose imagery is noted for previously adorning the covers of the affectionately entitled Silver and Gold – provided the forthcoming album’s artwork whilst musical contributors to bolster Martin’s songwriting include Steve Dail, Rob Withem, Frank Lenz and Charlie Martin respectively helming bass, guitars, strings/percussion and drums.

An aptly shoegaze-leaning affair that fondly recalls the lens of the band’s enduring early works, Martin states the newly premiered ‘909’ to be titled in homage to Riverside, the area in which he grew up and spent time scouring local record stores for albums by My Bloody Valentine, Ride and Slowdive among others.

Hear ‘909’ below.

Lust For Gold releases on August 16th via Velvet Blue Music. Pre-order physical editions of the album here.
