Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis announces Yannis & The Yaw tour dates

The Oxford musician’s project will perform live in Amsterdam, London and Paris this September.

Yannis Philippakis recently shared the first preview of a long-teased musical collaboration with Nigerian drummer Tony Allen, and has now revealed plans to take the one-time intergenerational project on the road.

Today the Foals frontman has confirmed that he will honour the late Afrobeat pioneer with a run of three live performances held in Amsterdam, London and Paris this September. For the dates Philippakis will be joined on stage by both collaborators from the EP’s original studio sessions and further musicians drawn from his network of creative peers. Tickets for the tour will be available to purchase from next week with pre-sale access available for each concert.

Philippakis shares of the newly announced tour dates

“It’ll be an emotional release to finally play these songs live, bittersweet & poignant without Tony here but important to allow the music to be played live, to give it oxygen & to release the music properly into the world. It’s been a labour of love.”
