Outer Spaceways Incorporated – Kronos Quartet & Friends Meet Sun Ra arrives in June.
Red Hot Organisation have announced the next chapter in an ongoing series of albums paying homage to late American jazz pianist and bandleader Sun Ra.
Helmed by San Francisco-based string ensemble Kronos Quartet, Outer Spaceways Incorporated – Kronos Quartet & Friends Meet Sun Ra is poised for release on June 21st and will mark the fourth effort to materialise from the non-profit fundraising organisation’s thus far prolific Red Hot & Ra tribute project. Drawing on an eclectic and noteworthy roster of personnel across its runtime, the newly announced album sees Kronos Quartet bolstered by collaboration with Armand Hammer, Laurie Anderson, Laraaji, Moor Mother, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Terry Riley and Sun Ra Arkestra bandleader Marshall Allen amongst others.
