Drahla announce sophomore album, share new single

Hear the band’s ‘Default Parody’ now.

Drahla have announced the release of a new album.

angeltape is scheduled to release on April 5th and marks the West Yorkshire outfit’s sophomore full-length statement, building on the successes of 2019’s Useless Coordinates and bolstered by the continual endorsement of ever-venerable New York imprint Captured Tracks.

Recorded in 2023 with Matthew Benn and Jamie Lockhart the forthcoming album captures the band in a period of evolution, re-approaching their unflinching post-punk blueprint through an expanded configuration once more featuring the confrontational and crucial sax musings of longstanding collaborator Chris Duffin in addition to the newly recruited Ewan Barr whose presence facilitates an exploration of compelling and gnarled dual guitar interplay as showcased within the newly premiered ‘Default Parody’.

Singer-guitarist Luciel Brown explains of the album’s creation

“There was an uncertainty and anxiety in not knowing how to rekindle what we had and what we did have just didn’t exist in the same format. I feel this is apparent in the music; the constant changes, opposing ideas and structures, the overall energy and drive of the songs. I think there’s also the sense of reconnection, encouragement and freedom, too. There’s excitement borne from us finding something together again.”
