The Dandy Warhols announce new album, enlist Black Francis for lead single

The Portland band’s Rockmaker will release in March.

The Dandy Warhols have announced the release of a new album.

Rockmaker will release on March 15th and marks the Portland psych rock fixtures’ twelfth full-length effort, succeeding 2020’s Tafelmuzik Means More When You’re Alone and arriving twenty years after the original release of Dig!, the enduring documentary film that depicted the band’s tumultuous relationship with prolific kindred spirits The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Spearheaded by a newly premiering lead single written in collaboration with and featuring Pixies frontman Black Francis, the album’s release will be bolstered tours of North America and Australia and New Zealand commencing in March and April respectively.

Frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor explains of the group’s forthcoming long-player

“Sometimes we have a very focused idea of what we want. It’s generally what we want somebody else to make but since they never do, we have to. It has a very specific sound. There aren’t a lot of heavy guitar records currently coming out that we like, so that was the impetus for ‘Rockmaker’.”
