Travels Over Feeling: Arthur Russell, A Life is stated to collect hand-written scores, lyrics, photos, letters, drawings and interviews with the late musician’s peers.

A new book charting the life of late American musician and composer Arthur Russell has been announced.
Richard King’s Travels Over Feeling: Arthur Russell, A Life is scheduled to release in April and is noted to collect a wealth of largely unseen materials retrieved from the archives of the New York Public Library and personal collections belonging to a number of Russell’s peers. Hand-written scores, lyrics, photos, letters and drawings included within the publication are set to be accompanied by a new biographical text penned by King and interviews with Russell’s relatives, friends and collaborators.
King shares of his newly announced publication
“Uncovering the riches of Arthur’s archives was as immersive and intimate an experience as listening to his music.”
May 25th will subsequently see London’s infamous Barbican Centre host an event celebrating the forthcoming publication’s release. Lucinda Chua and Speakers Corner Quartet will perform at the launch event alongside further yet to be announced acts. Find further information here.

The time since Russell’s untimely death in 1992 has seen a wealth of posthumous releases materialise, providing broader exposure to the musician’s wide-reaching and singular creative output. Most recently this year Audika helmed the release of a new compilation album entitled Picture of Bunny Rabbit comprising works recorded during the same sessions that would birth the seminal 1986 album World of Echo.
Travels Over Feeling: Arthur Russell, A Life releases on April 16th via Faber Books. Pre-order the book here.
