MGMT announce long-awaited fifth album

Singer Andrew VanWyngarden recently teased the album’s arrival through a cryptic Reddit post.

American indie rock fixtures MGMT have announced the release of their long-awaited fifth album.

Loss Of Life is set for arrival on February 23rd through a newly established partnership with New York imprint Mom+Pop, bolstered by a guest appearance from Christine and the Queens and production credits from longtime collaborator Patrick Wimberly, Oneohtrix Point Never and Danger Mouse. The album’s official announcement arrives weeks after frontman Andrew VanWyngarden teased the looming project by posting a photograph of a vinyl test pressing to a subreddit dedicated to the group.

MGMT’s last full-length studio album Little Dark Age released to critical acclaim in 2018 and marked the group’s final project to surface whilst remaining under their longstanding contract with Columbia Records. In the subsequent years MGMT have released several singles and a live album entitled 11•11•11 as well collaborating in varying capacities with the likes of Connan Mockasin and Cola Boyy.
