Grandaddy announce new album, share first preview

The band’s long-awaited Blu Wav arrives on February 16th.

American indie rock stalwarts Grandaddy have announced the release of a new album.

Blu Wav is aligned for release on February 16th through independent imprint Dangerbird and marks the Jason Lytle-led outfit’s first full-length album to release in six years. Succeeding 2017’s Last Place, the forthcoming album also marks Grandaddy’s first new material to release since the death of longstanding member Kevin Garcia. Coinciding with the announcement today the band have revealed the album’s shimmering first preview entitled ‘Watercooler’.

Lytle shared in a statement introducing the album

Most of my relationships have involved girls who worked in office settings. This song is about the end of one, or perhaps a few, of those relationships. Listeners will also notice the pedal steel on this track and eventually on many others from the forthcoming new album. It’s a first for Grandaddy, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about this fact.”
