Shabaka Hutchings to perform John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme live in concert

The event will mark Hutchings’ final live performance before taking a hiatus from playing the saxophone.

London-based composer, bandleader and multi-instrumentalist Shabaka Hutchings has announced plans to pay homage to John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme live in concert.

Unfolding from the revered and intimate ICA on December 7th, the newly announced concert will see Hutchings perform Coltrane’s seminal 1965 album in its entirety alongside an ensemble comprising guitarist Dave Okumu, bassist Tom Herbert and drummers Tom Skinner, Eddie Hick, Jas Keyser and Moses Boyd. The concert is cited to mark Hutchings’ final live performance on the saxophone in London before entering a predetermined hiatus from playing the instrument to focus on other creative endeavours centred primarily around the musician’s studies of the Japanese shakuhachi flute.

Tickets for Hutchings’ performance of A Love Supreme go on sale at 10am on Friday 29th September. Find further ticket information here.
