California-based producer, composer, arranger and percussionist Carlos Niño has released a new album.
(I’m Just) Chillin’, On Fire arrives through decorated Chicago imprint International Anthem and sees the prolific multidisciplinary creative adopt his fruitful Carlos Niño & Friends banner once more, reassuming a bandleader role to curate a wide-ranging body of work with the enlisted support of a rotating all-star ensemble of instrumentalists. Amongst Niño’s collaborators within the newly released album are Grammy winning jazz titan Kamasi Washington, Eno-endorsed ambient linchpin Laraaji, The Mars Volta alumnus Deantoni Parks and OutKast’s André 3000 brandishing his now signature Mayan double flute.
A typically fluid journey through realms of percussion-centric spiritual jazz, languid hip-hop and glistening, reverb-swathed electronic ambience, stream (I’m Just) Chillin’, On Fire below.
