Wild Nothing announces fifth album, shares first preview

Captured Tracks will release Hold on October 27th.

Venerated American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Jack Tatum has announced the release of a new album as Wild Nothing.

Hold will release through longstanding label Captured Tracks on October 27th and marks Tatum’s fifth album to be crafted under the beloved Wild Nothing moniker. Writing sessions for the forthcoming album commenced in 2019 following a relocation from California to Tatum’s home state of Virginia with influences noted to include electronic acts such as Underworld and lyrical themes steeped in the experiences of navigating parenthood. Collaborators to feature on Hold include Jorge Elbrecht, Tommy Davidson of Beach Fossils and Hatchie’s Harriette Pilbeam, who features on the album’s opening statement ‘Headlights On’ released today.

Wild Nothing’s last album Indigo released to widespread praise in 2018, followed by 2020’s Laughing Gas EP. Meanwhile last year saw Tatum and his live cohorts embark upon an Autumn tour of the United States to celebrate the tenth anniversary of his landmark sophomore album Nocturne.

A grandiose and infectious precursor to the forthcoming album’s full release, hear ‘Headlights On’ in advance now.
