The reimagining arrives in the midst of a comprehensive reissue campaign of the Boston outfit’s discography helmed by Numero Group.

Pelican and Pinebender vocalist/guitarist Chris Hansen have joined forces to pay homage to Boston’s revitalised and influential Karate.
The newly released collaboration sees the Chicago pairing take on ‘Gasoline’, the opening statement from Karate’s decorated debut album and arrives in the midst of a comprehensive reissue campaign of the band’s discography helmed by archival label the Numero Group.

“Karate’s ‘Gasoline’ emerged as a superb vehicle for lifting the curtain on the emo-adjacent influences that been foundational to our music. We tapped our good friend Chris Hansen from Pinebender, with whom we’ve shared many a stage, to handle the song’s vocals as the timbre of his voice seems particularly dialed in for this material and we couldn’t be more stoked with how it turned out.”
