The free jazz collective’s Protect Your Light lands in September.
Irreversible Entanglements have signed to venerated jazz imprint Impulse! Records for the release of their next full-length album, Protect Your Light.
Encompassing eight songs, the decorated free jazz collective’s forthcoming album was tracked over three days in January 2023 at Rudy Van Gelder Studios, the New Jersey institution immortalised for housing a proliferation of historic recording sessions including those for John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme and Sonny Rollins’ Saxophone Colossus. For the album the band’s core lineup of poet/vocalist Camae Ayewa (aka Moor Mother), bassist Luke Stewart, trumpeter Aquiles Navarro, saxophonist Keir Neuringer and drummer Tcheser Holmes were accompanied by pianist Janice A. Lowe, cellist Lester St. Louis and vocalist Sovei.
Irreversible Entanglements’ last album Open The Gates released to widespread praise in 2021.
