Devendra Banhart announces eleventh album, international tour

Flying Wig releases on September 22nd.

American-Venezuelan singer-songwriter Devendra Banhart has announced the release of his eleventh album.

Flying Wig will mark the Los Angeles-based freak folk pioneer’s inaugural release through US imprint Mexican Summer and first solo album to surface in four years, following 2019’s critically acclaimed Ma and a subsequent 2021 full-length collaborative album with Noah Georgeson. Banhart has also revealed that in succession of the new album’s arrival he will embark upon a comprehensive international tour that encompasses stops in Chicago, Toronto, New York City, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and more. Tickets for all dates will be available to purchase from June 16th here.

Forged in partnership with Welsh singer-songwriter and label mate Cate Le Bon, of the forthcoming album’s creation Banhart explains,

“She’s the only person I wanted to make this record with… We set out to make a record sonically unlike anything I have made before – with a new creative partner at the helm. We definitely wanted a new sound, electronic yet organic and warm… We wanted to draw out and emphasize the emotional aspect of a synthesizer.”
