Tony Allen JID018 lands on July 7th.

Prolific Los Angeles multi-instrumentalist and producer Adrian Younge has announced the release of a new album made in collaboration with late afrobeat pioneer Tony Allen.
The newly announced album was captured within a single session at Linear Labs Studio in the Summer of 2018 and marks the latest instalment in a longstanding series of releases presented under Younge and A Tribe Called Quest alumnus Ali Shaheed Muhammad’s Jazz Is Dead imprint. Previous collaborations encompassed within the widely praised series have included albums with Brian Jackson, Roy Ayers, Lonnie Liston Smith, Gary Bartz and more.
Of the forthcoming project Younge explains,
“Our living legends are becoming our ancestors. That’s why we are so passionate about reminding them of how special they are while they are with us. Our upcoming album featuring @allencodrum was recorded before he passed, but he never got to hear the finished project. At least he got to hear the unfinished recording of his masterful drums before he left us. We miss ya Tony.”
Preceding the album’s full release, hear the unflinching funk strut of ‘Don’t Believe The Dancers’ below.
