Light In The Attic announce third Japanese city pop compilation

Pacific Breeze 3: Japanese City Pop, AOR & Boogie 1975-1987 draws upon songs from Makoto Matsushita, Chiemi Manabe and more.

Celebrated US imprint Light In The Attic have announced the release of a new compilation album of seldom seen Japanese music.

Pacific Breeze 3: Japanese City Pop, AOR & Boogie 1975-1987 marks the third instalment in the label’s revered Pacific Breeze compilation series, which has garnered global praise for its deft and peerless curation of music from Japan’s city pop movement of the 1970s and 1980s. Previous instalments in the series have drawn upon music from the likes of Haruomi Hosono, Taeko Ohnuki, Minako Yoshida, Yasuko Agawa, Hitomi Tohyama and Eri Ohno.

For their latest effort the label have gathered works from Miharu Koshi, Makoto Matsushita, Chiemi Manabe and more, with production credits once more largely helmed by Yellow Magic Orchestra components Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi. Presented alongside artwork from famed illustrator Hiroshi Nagai, physical editions of the album will be available on pink, green and black vinyl variants, CD and cassette tape.
