Wide Awake recruit Arooj Aftab, Sunset Rollercoaster, Ty Segall and more for 2023 edition

The London festival returns to Brockwell Park on May 27th.

Fast-rising independent music festival Wide Awake has revealed the first wave of acts set to appear at its 2023 edition.

During its brief lifespan the event has quickly become established as a key marker in the UK’s festival calendar, praised for its eclectic curations that draw upon the best of both local and international talents. A Certain Ratio, Black Country, New Road, black midi, Kikagaku Moyo and KOKOROKO feature among those previously booked to perform at the festival.

Today the festival announces that it will return to South London once more in 2023, bringing Grammy winning Brooklyn singer-songwriter Arooj Aftab, John Dwyer’s ever-changing San Francisco rock collective Osees, Taipei indie rock mainstays Sunset Rollercoaster, prolific LA garage rock luminary Ty Segall and more to the green pastures of Brockwell Park on May 27th.

Wide Awake co-founder Keith Miller explains

“There’s a feeling amongst us all at Wide Awake that the 2023 lineup is the most varied and interesting so far. Osees and Ty Segall are the types of catalysts that inspire a generation.

We’re lucky enough to also have the next gen with Glass Beams, Estella and a whole cohort of brilliant new acts we know you’ll all become massive fans of,” he continues. “And A Place To Bury Strangers represent everything about DIY music and that ethic. Wide Awake evolved out of a warehouse festival they played and we cannot wait to have them back.

The best thing? This is just the first announcement. We’ve got plenty more we’re really excited to share with you.”

Tickets for Wide Awake festival 2023 are on sale now priced at £39.50. Find yours here.
