Weyes Blood announces new album and international tour

And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow releases on November 18th.

Natalie Mering has announced the release of a new Weyes Blood album.

And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow is set for release on November 18th, marking a long-awaited follow-up to the Californian musician’s 2019 album Titantic Rising and the second chapter in a trilogy of releases. The looming project features co-production from Foxygen multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Rado throughout in addition to guest appearances from Oneohtrix Point Never, Mary Lattimore and Meg Duffy of Hand Habits notoriety.

Mering also reveals that in succession of the album’s release she will embark upon an international tour in 2023, first visiting a number of European cities before returning across the Atlantic for a comprehensive tour of North America. Tickets for all tour dates will go on sale this Friday.

A statement published by Mering reads,

“Titanic Rising was the first album of three in a special trilogy. It was an observation of things to come, the feelings of impending doom. And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow is about entering the next phase, the one in which we all find ourselves today — we are literally in the thick of it. Feeling around in the dark for meaning in a time of instability and irrevocable change. Looking for embers where fire used to be. Seeking freedom from algorithms and a destiny of repetitive loops. Information is abundant and yet so abstract in its use and ability to provoke tangible actions. Our mediums of communication are fraught with caveats. Our pain, an ironic joke born from a gridlocked panopticon of our own making, swirling on into infinity.”
