Melody’s Echo Chamber announces lost album co-produced by Kevin Parker

Unfold arrives on September 30th.

French singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Melody Prochet has announced that she will reissue her eponymous debut album as Melody’s Echo Chamber on transparent orange vinyl later this year to commemorate the project’s tenth anniversary. Upon release the album quickly established itself as a landmark of that year’s psychedelic musical landscape, praised for its deft teaming of the musician’s spellbinding, airy vocals with the infectious compositional sensibilities and production of Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker.

Today Prochet also reveals that in alignment with the looming reissue she will release a companion project entitled Unfold, comprising previously unheard demos created with Parker in 2013 for a sophomore album that ultimately never came to fruition.

Prochet explains of Unfold‘s creation, “The album was fifty percent completed, and then the relationship just didn’t make it through the process… And then I tried to work on it on my own for a couple years, until I realized that I was just really hurting myself doing that.

Retaining the same intoxicating qualities that made Prochet and Parker’s initial collaboration so beloved, stream Unfold‘s titular track in advance below.

Unfold

1 ‘Pêcheuse de Lune’
2 ‘Ocean Road’
3 ‘Norfolk Hotel’
4 ‘Unfold’
5 ‘From Pink They Fell Into Blue’
6 ‘Pieces Of Sound’
7 ‘The Cure’

Unfold releases on September 30th via Fat Possum. Pre-order the album as a standalone release or as part of a Melody’s Echo Chamber double LP bundle here.
