Ali arrives on September 23rd.

Texas groove purveyors Khruangbin have announced the release of a new album made in collaboration with Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Touré honouring his late father, heralded desert blues pioneer Ali Farka Touré.
With its track listing a thoughtful and considered curation of Vieux’s making, a press release notes the forthcoming project to pay homage to Ali through “recreating some of his most resonant work and experimenting with different sounds while maintaining the original’s integrity.”
Vieux elaborates further of the album
“I want this album to convey love. It is about the love that Ali brought into the world. It is about the love that I have for him and that Khruangbin has for his music. It is about pouring your love into something old to make it new again.”
A slow-burning meditation over dub-flecked rhythm, drifting synthesizer chords and Vieux’s emotive vocal and guitar pairing, hear the album’s opening statement ‘Savanne’ in advance.
Ali releases on September 23rd via Dead Oceans. Pre-order the album on black and green vinyl variants here.
