New single ‘Welcome To Hell’ leads the countdown to Hellfire.

London’s black midi have announced the release of their highly anticipated third album.
Hellfire is set for arrival on July 15th through Rough Trade Records and sees the group teaming once more with Grammy nominated producer and engineer Marta Salogni, who previously helmed the recording of their sophomore album’s opening statement ‘John L’.
Select physical editions of Hellfire will pair Salogni’s recordings with one of six accompanying flexi discs that comprise live takes of songs from the project captured during a late 2021 session with famed musician and audio engineer Steve Albini at his venerated Chicago recording facility Electrical Audio.
Guitarist Geordie Greep muses of the forthcoming album’s lyrical themes
“If Cavalcade was a drama, Hellfire is like an epic action film…
Almost everyone depicted is a kind of scumbag. Almost everything I write is from a true thing, something I experienced and exaggerated and wrote down. I don’t believe in Hell, but all that old world folly is great for songs, I’ve always loved movies and anything else with a depiction of Hell. Dante’s Inferno. When Homer goes to Hell in The Simpsons. There’s a robot Hell in Futurama. Isaac Bashevis Singer, a Jewish writer who portrays a Satan interfering in people’s lives. There’s loads!”
Presenting the trio on skull-rattling, combustible form, hear the aptly entitled first preview of Hellfire below.
