XAM Duo announce sophomore album

The Yorkshire outfit’s XAM Duo II will land on June 17th.

XAM Duo have announced the release of their sophomore album.

Comprising West Yorkshire musical fixtures Christopher Duffin and Matthew Benn, the pair’s return comes some five years after the release of their acclaimed, eponymous debut album. With attentions realigned to their contemplative electronic project in succession of contributions to indispensable albums of the past several years from Drahla, Virginia Wing, Hookworms and most recently the stellar, disco and No New York-infused Holodrum, XAM Duo II is geared for release on June 17th through Sonic Cathedral.

Discussing the genesis of the album Benn and Duffin respectively muse

“Our live set for the last few years has almost always been this new record played in order, from start to finish, and it seemed to work in that context. I like records to be a bit of a story or journey with peaks and troughs and lots of dynamics and space.”

“I think it’s a product of the music we were listening to at the time, the capabilities of the gear we were using and the fact that we didn’t record any part of this record together at the same time.

To lead the announcement of XAM Duo II the group have shared their approaching project’s first preview. A transfixing meditation that skilfully encompasses squelching bass, curious, meandering lead melody and uplifting glissando embellishment, hear ‘Blue Comet’ below.
