Belle and Sebastian announce long-awaited tenth album

The Glasgow group’s first full-length project in seven years will land in May.

Belle and Sebastian have announced the release of their long-awaited tenth album.

A Bit Of Previous marks the famed indie rock band’s first full-length studio album in seven years, succeeding 2015’s Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance and a slew of other ventures spanning soundtrack work to curating a music festival held on a cruise ship sailing the Mediterranean Sea. The new project was tracked in Belle and Sebastian’s Scottish hometown of Glasgow subsequent to several delays including derailed plans to embark upon studio time in Los Angeles in early 2020.

Of the recording process for A Bit Of Precious principle songwriter Stuart Murdoch details within the album’s liner notes

“We did it together, us and the city. This record was the first ‘full’ LP recording for B&S in Glasgow since Fold Your Hands Child, 1999. We clocked in every morning, we played our songs, we wrote together, we tried new things, we took the proverbial lump of clay, and we threw it every day.”

Supporting the album’s release Belle and Sebastian have mapped out plans for extensive tours of North America, the United Kingdom and Europe due to take place throughout 2022 and 2023.
