Wilma Archer and Vritra reconvene for sophomore album as Wilma Vritra

Grotto lands in May.

London-based producer Wilma Archer and Los Angeles rapper Vritra have announced the release of their sophomore album as Wilma Vritra.

Returning on the successes of their debut album Burd, Archer and Vritra’s partnership first surfaced to the public in 2019 as a skilful blend of disparate sensibilities spanning languid hip-hop, silk-laden R&B, buoyant yacht rock and immersive, murky ambience. Leading the announcement of the pair’s sophomore album, ‘One Under’ hints at a creative well that remains replete with ideas, its cinematic strings and rippling synths suffused with infectious melody coalescing below ruminations from the Odd Future expat that unfurl with a meticulous delivery.

Discussing their latest project and its leading single the pair elaborate

“The album is about self-preservation, private reflection and personal refuge from an oppressive exterior. The video is about protecting yourself inside a natural enclosure, under the ground – passing the time with comforting distractions and thoughts, while being aware of what is beyond your walls.”

Grotto releases on May 6th via Bad Taste. Pre-order the album on black, blue and split blue and red vinyl variants here.
