Godspeed You! Black Emperor have shared their fabled debut project in its entirety. Efrim Menuck of the sequestered Montreal outfit recorded all lights fucked on the hairy amp drooling in 1993 and distributed a limited run of 33 cassette tapes to friends and gig attendees shortly thereafter. The project has since remained largely unheard by fans and was thought lost until being purportedly uploaded and shared to an online forum in recent weeks.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor have now confirmed the leak’s authenticity, providing access to stream and purchase the album through their official Bandcamp page with all proceeds being donated to CJPME’s campaign to provide medical oxygen to the Gaza Strip.
Menuck notes in new interview for Vish Khanna’s Kreative Kontrol podcast that he created the project mostly alone prior to the band’s formation with sparse contribution from bass guitarist Mauro Pezzente.
