Hear ‘Wake Me Up’ now.

Oxford-raised indie rock stalwarts Foals have shared a new song entitled ‘Wake Me Up’.
The single marks the band’s inaugural release as a trio following the departure of long-standing keyboardist Edwin Congreave and is confirmed to serve as the first preview of their forthcoming follow-up to the 2019 two-part album series Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost.
Discussing the genesis of ‘Wake Me Up’ singer and guitarist Yannis Philippakis explains
“There’s a journey that the band has gone on experimenting with different palettes of sound. This time there was a desire to take it back to more of the initial idea of the band where the rhythm, the grooves and the guitars are interlocking architecturally. We wanted to tap into the physicality of music. And we wanted it to feel good.“
A deft marriage of mechanical, syncopated instrumentation and glossy production value, hear ‘Wake Me Up’ below.
Foals’ as yet untitled seventh studio album is due to release in 2022 with production credits from John Hill, Miles James, Paul Institute’s A.K. Paul and South London underbelly enthusiast Dan Carey. Next year will also see the band tour throughout the UK and Europe with a Spring schedule centred around four consecutive nights at London’s Olympia between April 29th and May 2nd.
