Pigeon share new single ahead of debut EP release

Lock in to the propulsive groove of ‘Yagana’ now.

Pigeon are a newly debuted quintet headed by rising Guinean singer Falle Nioke.

Teaming with Soundway Records for the release of their debut EP, the venerable British label notes Pigeon’s conceptualisation as stemming from impromptu post-pub jam sessions held in Margate, the results a coalescence of disco, no wave and jazz sensibilities. The group’s lineup is rounded out by a cast of seasoned instrumentalists in Tom Dream, Josh Ludlow, Steve Pringle and Graham Godfrey, whose collective portfolio boasts time spent performing within the fertile and boundlessly creative Forever Living Originals camp alongside Michael Kiwanuka, SAULT, Cleo Sol and Little Simz.

Leading their introduction the titular track of Pigeon’s forthcoming EP quickly locks in to a propulsive dancefloor groove coloured by smokey keys, mechanical chaka chaka guitar and untameable Onyeabor-esque synths that conjure moments of blissful frenzy.

Hear the fervent ‘Yagana’ below.

Yagana releases on November 19th via Soundway Records. Pre-order the EP on black and limited blue vinyl variants here.
