Connan Mockasin announces new album entitled Jassbusters Two

Landing in November via Mexican Summer.

Connan Mockasin has announced the release of a new album – and his second of 2021 following recent father-son collaboration It’s Just Wind – entitled Jassbusters Two.

Due for release on November 5th via Mexican Summer, the psychedelic pop stalwart’s fourth full-length album marks his second crafted under a collaborative full band format with longstanding cohorts Nicholas Harsant, Matthew Eccles, and Rory McCarthy. Submerged once again within the fictional world that centres around a band of school music teachers named the Jassbusters, the album was recorded at Gary’s Electric Studio in Brooklyn, New York in 2017 and propelled by the creative momentum that had been leveraged during the sessions for previous album Jassbusters.

Of the new album’s conceptualisation Mockasin explains in a press release

“Jassbusters was the first record I’d done as a band. I really enjoyed it, and wanted to make more music while we were still in character as this group of music teachers. I was playing the role of the guitar teacher in the band, who was pushed into being the singer who didn’t have lyrics. So, like the first Jassbusters record, the lyrics were improvised, blurted out.”
